Candidate for Shura Member – Zulqarnain Ahmed Shaikh
Asalam O Alaikyum,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Zulqarnain Ahmed Shaikh. I have been living in Plano for 12 + years and moved to Frisco about 4 years ago. My wife is a physician and we are proud parents of 4 children. 14 yr old daughter (9th grade), 3 boys ages 12 (7th grade), 10 (5th grade) and 7 yrs (1st grade). I completed my education from Staten Island, NY in 1996 and since then I have been working in IT industry. Have worked as a manager in several IT projects. Recently have switched career and running my own business (a medical lab in Irving). I find myself to have strong leadership and managerial skills. Along with that I am a great team player.
I live in Richwoods which is a home for over 80 plus Muslim families. Following are some of the activities I have been part of.
- Been actively involved in cultural activities to keep our community together like organizing Eid parties twice every year for last 3 years and have arranged and coordinated other events for the benefit of our community.
- Before moving to Frisco I have volunteered in Plano Masjid as well. I am a detail oriented person and like to set goals to meet the deadlines.
- Currently I am a member of Irving chamber of commerce and Hispanic chamber of commerce. I believe in diversity.
Goals as a Shura member:
By the grace of Allah SWT and with the support of our community if I get elected my focus will be to move forward from where current shura has left off. Will make strong attempts to organize events with the focus to bring community together and stay united. Introduce new ideas to get our youth involved like building a multipurpose hall so the youth feel comfortable and welcomed in the masjid. I strongly believe in transparency and open communication between board members and community.
I will be humbled to get elected and serve our Muslim community. Will make every effort to meet the expectations our community has from the shura members.
May Allah protect our community from evil and keep us all united and strong.
