Mariam Battla

My name is Mariam Battla, and I am completing my second term on the ICF Board, having first been elected during the 2020–2021 Shura elections. My journey with ICF began many years before that, when I became actively involved with our Sunday School’s Special Education Department. For the past six to seven years, I have worked closely with students, families, and teachers to ensure that children with unique learning needs are supported, accommodated, and included in our programs. This work has been one of my greatest passions and continues to shape my approach to leadership and service.

During my time on the Board, I have been entrusted with several key responsibilities that impact the growth and vitality of our community. I currently oversee our Free Health Clinic, which provides essential care and resources to those in need. I lead our Marketing Team, which has recently helped elevate ICF’s presence through strong branding, social media, and communication efforts. I also manage our Young Professionals Group, fostering spaces where the next generation can connect, grow, and give back to the masjid. Additionally, I remain deeply committed to ensuring special needs accommodations are implemented across our programs so that every individual and family feels welcomed and included.

For me, serving on the board is not simply about holding a position—it is about being a volunteer who supports other volunteers and the entire community. I believe it is critical that we, as a community, remain involved, stay informed, and ensure our voices are heard. If re-elected, I will continue to dedicate myself to strengthening communication between the board and the community, supporting our volunteers, and ensuring that every initiative we take on reflects the needs of the people who call ICF home.

Looking to the future, my vision is to see ICF expand in ways that bring even more opportunities for growth, connection, and impact. A top priority is completing our gym facility, which I hope will include a coffee shop and serve as both a recreational and social hub for our members. I also aim to further develop our marketing and outreach so that the strength of our programs and the spirit of our community are reflected both within and beyond our masjid walls. Another priority of mine is to empower the sisters of our community, encouraging them to step into leadership roles and reminding them that they are equally capable of serving and leading at every level.

With Allah’s guidance, I pray to continue serving ICF with sincerity, dedication, and vision—building a community where every member feels seen, supported, and empowered to contribute.
